Tilman Bauer is a peace researcher from Finland and Germany. In 2022, he completed his doctoral dissertation manuscript on “how business can foster peace in society” at Aalto University School of Business in Helsinki. His central message is that at the core of all good and ethical business lies the positive advancement of peace and general wellbeing on a global scale. Introducing the Business Peace Index, a measurement of companies’ peace impacts that operationalizes the concept of peace for business, Bauer’s work pioneers a new research area, proposing a more active role for business in creating comprehensive positive influence in society. Following his doctoral research, Bauer founded Peace is a platform offering holistic peace-oriented consulting services to individuals and companies.
