Weaving People to Grow Foundation (WPTG Foundation) in collaboration with Alkidmat Foundation distributed Food Bags among 200 deserving and financially vulnerable families. The event was organized on the premises of St. Catherine’s Girls Hostel, Lalkurti Rawalpindi. WPTG Foundation’s office is also located on this premises. There were a total of 173 women and 27 males out of a total of 200 beneficiaries. The beneficiaries included widows, persons with disabilities and diseases particularly women suffering from chronic diseases such as cancer, families with accident patients and jobless persons starving at home due to zero earnings. The event had two rounds; 1) Keynote speeches by the Honourable Guests and 2) Food Bags Distribution by WPTG Foundation’s Team among the 200 beneficiaries. The first round comprised of a panel speakers; Mr. Rizwan Ahmed President of Alkhidmat Foundation, Team Alkhidmat Foundation, His Excellency Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Ms. Rubina Basharat Bible Teacher from Living Branch Church, Lalkurti Branch, Sr. Thecla Barkat and Ms. Sofia Garstin Board Members WPTG Foundation, Ms. Kiran Peter, Executive Director of WPTG Foundation and Volunteer team of WPTG Foundation.
The demand for grocery and food items has increased because inflation in Pakistan has skyrocketed, in April 2023 it surged to 36.4% (Reuters May 2, 2023), its highest level since 1974. The highest inflation rate has pushed people into ultra-poverty. Unfortunately, in the holy month of Ramadan, the prices were shoot 3 times higher than the usual rates, subjecting people to the extreme need for edible accessories because the basic grocery has become beyond their purchasing power. WPTG Foundation has reached people during this difficult time and has observed their miserable conditions. People were highly pleased to receive the food boxes, they appreciated WPTG Foundation’s efforts for humanity in their hard times.
